2009-12-30 Kiwa goes Olympic
Sport's facilities back on track
Winterberg’s (Germany) bobsleigh and luge tracks are as good as new and safer than ever, thanks to Kiwa Germany’s building testing and maintenance department. They carried out repairs at the concrete surface of the track andmade it more durableby using a special epoxy resin.
Anyone who ever practiced these sports or looked at the impressive views on the television during the winter Olympics, could imagine the severe conditions these tracks have to endure. Apart from the extreme temperatures in the region, the intense use of the tracks, ask a lot of the building construction as well. Kiwa got involved in offering a solution to the damaged concrete surface of the tracks.
Concrete repairs and providing durability are the department’s key qualities. It does not necessarily have to be a sports’ facility like a bobsleigh track; they are also present to carry out repairs to bridges, roads and even waste furnaces. Most of the damage to the concrete is the result of weather conditions. Kiwa has extensive knowledge and experience of concrete material and is able to quickly analyse the damage in order to advise the most suitable and durable solution for the problem, enabling a value increase and a higher safety level of a building or an object.
